Governors are like a Board of Directors and make decisions about how the school is run. They meet at least once a term at school. Governors are appointed to help:
- Decide what is taught
- Set standards of behaviour
- Interview and select staff
- Decide how the school budget is spent
School Governors have legal duties, powers and responsibilities. They can only act together, they cannot act individually.
School Governors are:
- Parents
- Staff at the school
- Local authority representatives
- Community representatives, businessmen and women
Parent Governors:
- Have a child in school
- Are elected by parents of the school
- Serve, as do other Governors, for four years

How can I become a Governor?
Whenever a vacancy for a Parent Governor arises, parents are given notice in the school Newsletter and are asked to put their name forward if they would like to be nominated as a Parent Governor. There are also vacancies for Community governors from time to time. If you are interested in becoming a Community governor contact the governing body through the school.
